Stop The HIT Coalition Statement on Draft Health Care Legislation

For Immediate Release

Coalition Praises GOP Commitment to Repealing the HIT

Washington, D.C. – The Stop The HIT Coalition today issued the following statement in response to the draft legislation released by House Republicans to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act.

“We applaud House Republicans for including a full and permanent repeal of the Health Insurance Tax (HIT) in their draft legislation. The HIT inflicts a painful tax hike on America’s small businesses and hardworking families that will cost jobs and prevent companies from providing health care to their employees. Moreover, taxes like HIT are a drag on America’s economic growth, putting good jobs on the chopping block in every state.

“Republicans and Democrats have previously stood on the side of hardworking Americans by supporting efforts to repeal the HIT. We encourage both parties to now come together to design a solution for America’s health care system that frees small businesses from the burdensome HIT.”
