Coalition Statement on Inclusion of 2-year HIT Delay in the Increasing Access to Lower Premium Plans and Expanding Health Savings Accounts Act

For Immediate Release

The Stop The HIT Coalition, which represents small business owners, their employees and the self-employed, issued the following statement on the inclusion of a two-year delay of the Health Insurance Tax (HIT) in the Increasing Access to Lower Premium Plans and Expanding Health Savings Accounts Act, a legislative package aimed at lowering health care costs sponsored by Congressman Peter Roskam (R-IL).

“In advance of a vote on the House floor, we applaud the inclusion of HIT relief among the House legislative package aimed at addressing rising health care costs and patient affordability issues. Extending HIT relief into 2020 and 2021 would provide small business owners and their employees with immediate and necessary cost savings of as much as $570on average in the small group market. We thank our champions for the putting forth bipartisan solutions and encourage Members of Congress to prioritize HIT relief for the millions of small businesses and employees who will benefit from this suspension.”
