Stop The HIT Coalition Statement on Senator John Barrasso’s Introduction of Legislation to Delay the Health Insurance Tax for 2020

The Stop The HIT Coalition, which represents small business owners, their employees and the self-employed, issued the following statement following introduction of legislation to suspend the Health Insurance Tax (HIT) for 2020 (S. 3063). The bill would extend the current suspension of the HIT for an additional year and provide much-needed certainty and cost-savings to millions of small business owners over the next two years.

“We applaud Senator John Barrasso (R-WY) for continuing to support America’s small businesses by introducing S. 3063 and extending relief from the impact of the Health Insurance Tax (HIT) into 2020. By extending HIT relief into 2020, American families could see premium relief and much-needed cost savings of $570 on average in the small group market. We urge Members of Congress to continue to prioritize HIT relief for the millions of small businesses and employees who will benefit from this suspension.”
